About this course

Outline Outline

Engineering design is a method of design focused on creating systems that meet the needs of the stakeholders or clients. To minimise areas such as the amount of material, production cost, and time-to-market, it is critical that the selection of materials and manufacturing processes are done early in the design process. This extended specialisation focuses on the methodology of designing effective solutions for stakeholders while minimising resources such as cost, time, and materials. It is assumed that students have a fundamental understanding of technical drawing, engineering modelling, and manufacturing processes.

What you'll learn
  • Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of fundamental science, mathematics, data analytics, information science, sustainability principles and/or computing, GC1
  • Solve design and manufacturing problems of industrial and societal significance via innovative and creative design or research, working individually or in teams, GC2
  • Select and use current and emerging technologies to develop and communicate effective and innovative engineering solutions to complex problems, GC3
